Day 7 - Thursday
Gave a small plastic trophy to a client who deserved a big reward for getting through a terrible time. People do respond to symbolson a deep level, even when they are inexpensive. This is a good technique for me because it comes naturally from my own need for symbols and metaphors. What a joy it is to watch someone really get the "ah-ha" moment when they are gifted a token or a story.

I treasure the box of symbolic gifts that you and Renee gave me when I graduated from Tulane. I have it on my shelf in the office and take it out when I need inspiration or support or just to remember that I am able to do good work. The "key" is posted on the side of my refrigerator at home so I can remind myself of who I am through others' (your) eyes and why what I get up and do every day is important.
